Apprentice Fire Alarm Cable Installation Technician – LTL Systems

LTL Systems, based in Cramlington, Northumberland, is seeking an Apprentice Fire Alarm Cable Installation Technician to support the installation of fire detection and alarm systems at commercial, industrial, and residential sites.

The successful candidate will learn to install containment, run and terminate low-voltage fire alarm cabling, and prepare sites for second-fix device installation, all under the supervision of experienced technicians.

Hours of Work: 08.30 am-5.00 pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)

Salary: £16,640

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out first-fix installation activities including drilling, fixing brackets, installing conduit/trunking, and pulling fire alarm cables through buildings.
  • Terminate cables at panels, modules, and devices in line with design drawings and manufacturer instructions.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and building plans to determine cable routes and equipment locations.
  • Assist with second-fix tasks such as mounting detectors, sounders, call points, and control panels.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and fault-finding activities using multimeters and other test equipment.
  • Complete site documentation including installation records, test sheets, and daily reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area; handle tools, ladders, and materials responsibly.
  • Follow all health and safety policies, risk assessments, and method statements; attend toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have A-C or 4-9 grades at GCSE, including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications

Applicants should have good basic IT skills.

A driving licence is preferable for this role, as is access to own transport.
