A Durham workwear clothing company is expanding due to rapid growth which has seen them ranked 16th in the top ‘Fastest 50’ growing companies in the North East by Ward Hadaway.
This is the third year in succession Workwear Express has made the list and they say their growth is mainly down to heavy investment in e-commerce, production equipment and new state-of-the-art facilities. Workwear Express, which is a family-run company, has seen rapid growth since it enhanced its e-commerce capability and doubled its product range which has resulted in a significant surge in online sales.
The firm, who specialises in personalised workwear, uniform and promotional clothing, are working with Gateshead-based Access Training to recruit more employees to service the rise in demand, including apprentices.
The business, which employs over 100 people and operates internationally, recently asked Access Training to urgently find them an administration apprentice. Access put forward Amy Hancock, 20, from Durham, on a Friday afternoon and she started employment with Workwear Express on the Tuesday.

“We strongly believe in apprenticeships and Amy really impressed us in her interview with her personality and enthusiasm to progress. She is doing really well and assisting in HR, finance and customer service.”
Workwear Express was set up by managing director Andrew Ward in 1989 and clients include Hovis, Nando’s and The Works.
