    Course Overview

    In this course, learners will gain foundational knowledge of core data concepts and related Microsoft Azure data services. Participants will learn about core data concepts such as relational, non-relational, big data, and analytics, and build their foundational knowledge of cloud data services within Microsoft Azure.

    Participants will explore fundamental relational data concepts and relational database services in Azure. They will explore Azure storage for non-relational data and the fundamentals of Azure Cosmos DB. Students will learn about large-scale data warehousing, real-time analytics, and data visualisation.

    • Course Objectives

    • By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

      • Identify types of data formats (structured, semi-structured, unstructured) and differentiate between core workloads like transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP).
      • Understand relational database design concepts (such as normalization) and basic SQL commands, and identify Azure relational services like Azure SQL and Azure Database for PostgreSQL. 
      • Explore non-relational storage types and the core principles of Azure Cosmos DB, alongside managing Azure Storage for unstructured and semi-structured data. 
      • Learn the concepts behind modern data warehousing, batch versus stream processing, and how data visualisation using Power BI works within the ecosystem.
    • Prerequisites

    • The audience for this course is individuals who want to learn the fundamentals of database concepts in a cloud environment, get basic skilling in cloud data services, and build their foundational knowledge of cloud data services within Microsoft Azure.
