We are advertising the following vacancies on behalf of employers in the North East.

We are also interested in receiving applications for apprenticeship opportunities in general and we will consider these against current vacancies and those which may arise in the future (please enter General where the application form asks for a vacancy number).

Selection process

If your application meets the required standard we will invite you for an initial interview at our Training Centre on the Team Valley in Gateshead.

CVs for those applicants successful at the initial interview are sent to employers who may invite you for an interview at their premises which in turn may lead to an offer of employment.

Access will then work with you and your employer to achieve your apprenticeship qualification.

Duties to include:

Candidate Management

  • Pro-actively identify (from Job Boards) and register agreed number of Candidates each week including
  • Completion of registration forms and photocopying of right to work documentation
  • Where appropriate arrange skills testing and follow up reference checks on Candidates
  • Record full Candidate details on database including appropriate attributes
  • Re-format Candidate cv and publish on database

Job Assignment Handling

Managing Temporary Placements

  • Receive and enter details of actual hours worked into database
  • Where applicable advise Umbrella Companies of hours worked by their workers
  • Chase any outstanding timesheets and ensure all entered into database by close of play Monday
  • Respond to reference requests for previous Temporary Workers

Job Title: Warehousing Apprentice

Job Description:

 

  • Inspection of goods received for quality, damage and/or validation against the company’s official purchase order.
  • Ensure effective rotation of stock holdings to avoid “ageing” in shelf life.
  • Undertake cycle checks regularly to validate accuracy of stock records, advising Office Administration for discrepancies, out-of-stock lines and those below authorised minimum stocking levels.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in the warehouse, with storage of goods aided by mechanical handling equipment (fork lift truck, hydraulic lift or any such device provided by the company) and ensure that warehouse is regularly swept and kept tidy.
  • Prepare delivery schedules, whenever necessary and pack/assemble products against customer orders due for despatch on that “run” – to economise on transport costs.
  • Accurately complete Goods Received and Goods Despatched documentation in a timely manner ensuring immediate data entry to the computer system.
  • Organising external carriers for timely despatch of goods.
  • Thoroughly check/inspect goods “Return” for verification of stated causes and accurately complete relevant paper-work required by Office Administration. All such “Returns” should be immediately quarantined in the warehouse, pending decision/direction by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Provide assistance to sales and administrative colleagues by accepting telephone orders and communicating details for the sales order processing system.
  • Promote product sales to customers calling at the Trade Sales counter and assist in distributing technical literature for enquiries when Sales Engineers are not available.
  • Maintain familiarity with operation of the computer system with “hands-on” approach.
  • Ensure good inter-personal relationships with all personnel at the Branch and at other locations of the company to foster corporate teamwork.
  • Actively participate in Branch meetings to discuss and exchange views and ideas to improve performance, efficiency or productivity and other matters appertaining to the larger group picture.

  • Analysis of key cost accounts on a monthly basis and investigating any issues
  • Ensuring new stock items are correctly set up and attaining expected profit levels
  • Continually looking for improvements in the processes and assist in driving improvements through the business
  • Cost analysis within the manufacturing
  • Producing information to support management accounts and forecasts
  • Stock transactions reports on how they affect accounts
  • Assisting with year-end reporting for audit purposes
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the finance and costing function, suggest projects and develop project plans with cost management accountants support
  • Provide cover for cost management accountant during absence, holiday etc
