Selection process

If your application meets the required standard we will invite you for an initial interview at our Training Centre on the Team Valley in Gateshead.

CVs for those applicants successful at the initial interview are sent to employers who may invite you for an interview at their premises which in turn may lead to an offer of employment.

Access will then work with you and your employer to achieve your apprenticeship qualification.

Job Title: Fire & Security Apprentice Engineer
Location:

Hours of Work: 09.00-5.00 Mon to Fri – 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: £168.75 per week

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Engineer at Data Fire & Security based in Westerhope. There is an excellent opportunity to progress and grow within the company for the right candidate who is enthusiastic and keen to learn new skills.

Duties to include:

  • Follow company & regulatory procedures
  • Complete 1st fix installations (installation of cabling etc.) to company and regulatory standards progressing onto 2nd fix
  • Use of hand tools and cordless drill
  • Assist with corrective and preventative maintenance calls
  • Provide excellent service to customers, building solid working relationships

Duties to include:

  • Attending routine maintenance and service calls with the Engineer
  • Carrying out system maintenance, fault finding and repairs
  • Affixing replacement equipment to walls etc.

  • Working to company procedures and following all health & safety guidelines

Applicants should have a good knowledge of IT systems and be willing to attend day release at Team Valley, Gateshead (one day per week).  Will also be required to undertake overnight stays at location of the job on occasions.

Job Title: Apprentice Fire Engineer

Hours of Work: Mon-Thurs 7:30-4:30, Friday 7:30-2pm
Salary: £168.00 per week

Main Duties:

  • Undertake installation ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation
  • Liaising with clients and other providers on site
  • Complete all necessary paperwork
  • Use of hand tools/cordless drill
  • Ensure security of tools on site and that access equipment is stored safely
  • Weekly attendance at and participation in tool box talks
  • Test all fire alarm cables to ensure functionally
  • Undertake any necessary remedial work as identified by the commissioning engineers

These duties are not exhaustive and other duties may be required from time to time. It is also anticipated that the duties will progress over time.

Driving licence and access to own vehicle would be preferred.

Duties to include:

  • Installing cabling (first fix) to relevant standards
  • Drilling holes / using a cordless drill and a range of tools
  • Mounting equipment for fire detection/alarm, intruder alarm, access control, CCTV and audio/visual systems
  • Fault finding
  • Liaising with site personnel
  • Updating site paperwork – work sheets and handover documentation
  • Following Health and Safety guidelines
Please note this role may involve working at height or occasionally in small spaces.
Due to the nature of the work, some flexibility with working hours may be required from time to time.
Please note applicants should hold a full driving licence and have their own transport (due to travel to different work locations on various sites) travel expenses will be reimbursed when travel is further than your usual commute.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Administration apprentice Gateshead based training provider – TRN. There is an excellent opportunity to progress and grow within the organisation for the right candidate who is enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills. The purpose of the role is to complete a wide range of administrative duties to include:

  • Claiming client certificates from a variety of awarding bodies
  • Order CSCS Vouchers / applying for CSCS cards
  • Process all certificates on arrival ensuring they are tracked on our system, copied and scanned
  • Enter 30 staff timesheets weekly and process month end reports
  • Ordering supplies and personal protective equipment for learners
  • Arranging staff travel and accommodation
  • Process and monitor all referrals through our system / booking learner inductions via telephone, text and email
  • Screen/check eligibility of client inductions and sending course offer letters
  • Ensure all referral partners receive weekly updates regarding their clients courses attendance
  • Dealing with customer queries
  • Support with reception duties / cover when required

Applicants should have good IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office programmes, as well as good keyboard skills. Should also have an excellent telephone manner.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a growing company for an Apprentice Business Administrator at Washington based Decor Cladding Direct. You will be working within a small and friendly team, in a busy environment. The role will be very varied and will include the following duties;

  • Dealing with all telephone and email queries
  • Processing internet orders, using Electronic Point of Sales (EPOS) systems
  • Taking payments from customers in store and over the telephone
  • Data inputting of customer names, addresses and delivery information
  • Liaising with the showrooms
  • Administrative duties such as filing and scanning documents
  • Working with other team members to provide administrative support
